Together with collaborators from KU Leuven, we just published a new preprint titled Conditioning and backward errors for nonlinear eigenvalue problems with eigenvector nonlinearities to arXiv. We define condition numbers and backward errors for eigenvalues and eigenvectors of nonlinear eigenvalue problems with eigenvector nonlinearities. Furthermore, we derive explicit and easily computable expressions for these quantities. By means of numerical experiments, we demonstrate that eigenvector-nonlinear problems can exhibit counter intuitive behavior when considering the conditioning of the eigenpairs. [arXiv link]
